My Mirror Image (Revised)
My Mirror Image
Walking up Broadway a mirror image of
my life follows me, as it reflects upon
the people I see.
Asking myself; What happened to the dreams
of who I should be?
Thru the years mistakes
were made,
Bad choices one might
say.
The man I am today looks into my mirror image,
seeing so much potential, another
chance to reach my dreams.
Sober I am, the clouds have cleared within my
brain. A voice speaks inside my head, I listen
hoping to decipher just
what it means.
Reaching out this mirror image tells me of hope,
the sun warms my soul.
Dreams never die, don’t listen to the devils lies,
grab onto your life for one is
never to old.
Remembering a time gone by, my ship once came in,
and I was to navigate my way to
a great success.
Setting out to sea, my spiritual compass could not
navigate the course, for these skills I
did not possess.
The wisdom of age has blessed me, my youthful
ideas of success have changed, smiling as I dream
of a small sail boat coming to offer that second
chance, to carry me off
with the wind.
Thank God for my mirror image on this sunny day,
it gently reminds me, unique I am not. To be
strong in spirit, success comes
from within.
